A deeply disturbing video has exploded across social media, leaving many Nigerians and Ghanaians in total shock and anger.
The incident happened in Manso, Ashanti Region of Ghana. In the short clip, a young girl — believed to be a minor — is peacefully hawking fruits like avocados in a park when two commercial motorbike riders (popularly called Okada men) approach her.
What follows is heartbreaking: the two men are seen touching and groping the girl’s breasts without any shame. The frightened girl tries to run away, but one of the men chases after her and attempts to touch her again. The video, which is about 30 seconds long, has gone massively viral.
Many people who saw the video could not hold back their emotions. On X (formerly Twitter), users described it as “trending disturbing video of two Okada men groping and sexually harassing a minor who hawks fruit at a park in Ghana.”
Public comments poured in fast:
– “Look at them… behaving like animals in the wild. That poor girl. I really hope she’s okay… nobody deserves that.”
– “These Okada men must be found and punished immediately. Our girls are not safe anywhere!”
– “Why didn’t anyone around stop this? The girl was just trying to sell her fruits to survive.”
Child hawking is very common in Ghana and many parts of Africa because of poverty. Young girls often sell fruits, pure water, or snacks on the streets to help their families. Sadly, this exposes them to all kinds of danger, including sexual harassment from strangers.
Ghana has laws like the Children’s Act that are meant to protect minors from such abuse. Activists say this video shows why child labour on the streets must stop and why families need better support so children can go to school instead of working.
As of now, there is no official report that the two men have been arrested. Police in the Ashanti Region are yet to make a public statement, but the massive spread of the video is putting pressure on authorities to act fast and find the culprits.
This sad incident has sparked fresh conversations about the safety of young girls who hawk for a living. Many are calling for stricter measures against street harassment and more protection for vulnerable children across West Africa.
The video is a painful reminder that while people go about their daily hustle, some innocent children face terrible risks just trying to make small money for their families. Nigerians and Ghanaians alike are demanding justice — the men involved must be identified and dealt with according to the law.
