Social media users have taken to their official X account on May 18, 2026 to react to the statement that was made by the former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi after kidnappers killed a teacher, Michael Oyedokun who was kidnapped in Oyo state.
Peter Obi’s statement came after Punch reported that the mathematics teacher was among several other people who were kidnapped from the Oriire Local Govenment Area of Oyo state.
In the post that Peter Obi made on his page, he expressed sadness over the incident. He said he doesn’t understand how Nigeria got to a point where teachers will be kidnapped and killed. The former governor of Anambra state said the situation in Nigeria is more than a security crisis.
According to Peter Obi on his official X account;
“How did we get here? How did we reach a point where teachers are hunted and killed, and the elderly, custodians of memory and wisdom suffer such dehumanising violence? To the families affected, I share in your grief”.
