According to a report by Punch on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Samuel Oyedokun, the elder brother of Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics teacher at Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has narrated the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the death of his brother after he was abducted by terrorists.
Samuel revealed that the late teacher was forced to walk for several hours through the forest before he was eventually killed by his abductors. Describing the painful experience, he said the memory of the incident continues to torment the family daily.
“My brother was kidnapped and had to walk for many hours, for many miles, inside the forest before they eventually cut off his head,” Samuel said while speaking about the tragedy.
He explained that the incident has left Michael’s wife and children traumatised and constantly living in fear. According to him, the family now reacts nervously to the slightest movement or unusual sound because of the emotional impact of the attack.
Samuel also disclosed that he personally struggles to overcome the painful memories, noting that he keeps imagining the horrifying scene whenever he closes his eyes. He said the image of the weapon allegedly used by the terrorists remains deeply disturbing to him.
While expressing frustration over the worsening security situation in the country, Samuel questioned the efforts being made by authorities to combat terrorism and banditry. He stated that many Nigerians are losing confidence in government assurances regarding the fight against insecurity.
He further lamented that his brother was not the only victim, mentioning that another teacher, Joel Adesiyan, was reportedly shot dead in a separate attack.
