In a bold move that could reshape opposition politics ahead of 2027, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has introduced one of the strictest anti-defection measures ever seen in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic. All candidates seeking elective offices on the party’s platform must now sign indemnity and affidavit forms committing to vacate their seats immediately if they defect after winning.
