Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has issued a strong two-hour ultimatum to Fulani leaders in Igboho town, Oyo State, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of a pregnant woman, her children, and her sibling who were kidnapped by suspected Fulani gunmen.

The activist, who is an indigene of Igboho, warned that failure to comply would lead to direct confrontation.

The Kidnapping Incident

Suspected gunmen kidnapped the pregnant woman and her sibling in the middle of the night in Igboho. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N300 million, which was later reduced to N150 million. Tragically, when a ransom bearer was sent, the gunmen allegedly killed both the bearer and the pregnant woman.

Igboho’s Strong Warning

Speaking directly to Fulani leaders in the town, Igboho declared in Yoruba:

“You can’t be kidnapping in my father’s land and expect me to keep quiet. I’m an original indigene of Igboho land.”

He continued:

“You kidnapped a pregnant woman, and the person who brought the ransom, you killed him and killed the pregnant woman, for what? In Igboho? You people are not even afraid of me in my father’s land?”

Igboho made it clear that the victims would not pay any ransom. Instead, he placed the responsibility squarely on the Fulani leaders:

“I give you people two hours to release the woman, her children, and her sibling who were kidnapped in the middle of the night. If I don’t see them within the next two hours, we will face each other.”

He added that the Fulani community should contribute and pay the ransom themselves if necessary, stressing that the Yoruba people have no money to pay.

Tracking the Victims

Igboho revealed that his team had tracked the kidnappers’ movements. He stated that the victims were first taken to an Alhaji’s residence, then moved to Bani’s compound, and are currently being held at Baale’s compound.

He warned that this must be the last such incident in Igboho and urged peaceful coexistence, noting that while Fulani have not been kidnapped in the area, Yoruba people have been repeatedly targeted.

Significance of the Ultimatum

This is the latest in a series of strong interventions by Sunday Igboho on security matters in the South-West. His message reflects deep frustration with the continuous targeting of locals and a determination to protect his community.

As the two-hour deadline set by Igboho ticks, tension is high in the area. Many residents are watching closely to see how the situation will unfold and whether the kidnapped victims will be released unharmed.
