Residents of Igboho in Oyo State erupted in jubilation after an abducted family, comprising a pregnant woman, her children and another relative, reportedly regained their freedom hours after Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, issued an ultimatum demanding their release.

Videos shared online captured scenes of celebration, with residents singing and dancing as the victims returned to the community.

The reported release followed a warning by Sunday Igboho over worsening insecurity and repeated abduction incidents in the area.

In an earlier video that gained traction on social media, the activist addressed traditional rulers and representatives of the Fulani community, expressing outrage over alleged cases of kidnapping and killings in Igboho.

He alleged that some Fulani residents were involved in the abductions and cited an incident in which a ransom bearer was reportedly killed while only one person was spared.

According to him, such incidents would no longer be tolerated.

Igboho subsequently gave a two-hour deadline for the release of those still in captivity, saying he had exercised restraint out of respect for appeals from traditional leaders.

He warned that he would take further action if the victims were not freed, including moving against locations believed to be connected to the kidnappings.

“I am giving them two hours. They must return the woman, her children and siblings whom they kidnapped overnight. If I don’t see them within those two hours, we will clash,” Igboho declared.

Shortly after the ultimatum, videos emerged showing jubilant residents celebrating what they described as the return of the kidnapped family.

However, the exact circumstances surrounding the victims’ release had not been independently verified as of the time this report was filed.
