Dr. Elizabeth Obot, one of the suspects linked to the alleged child trafficking scandal at a hospital in Port Harcourt, has admitted to selling dead babies, claiming she was paid N10,000 for one of the bodies in 2020.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, on Sunday, 21 June, 2026, Obot recounted how the practice allegedly began, saying a woman who had previously encountered the police approached her seeking a dead baby. According to her, she agreed to the request after confirming that one was available, leading to the transaction.

Explaining the incident, Obot said: “In 2020, one of those women that had issue with the police came and said if I have dead babies and at that time, I had one. And I told her and she collected it and gave me N10,000.”

Her confession comes amid ongoing investigations into allegations of child trafficking and other illegal activities involving a hospital in Port Harcourt. The case has attracted nationwide attention following claims that babies were being illegally traded, with law enforcement authorities working to determine the extent of the alleged network and identify everyone involved.

Obot’s remarks provide one of the clearest admissions yet from a suspect connected to the case, although investigators are expected to independently verify her claims as part of the broader probe. Authorities have not concluded their investigation, and the allegations remain subject to judicial determination.
