A prominent member of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has sparked discussion after commenting on the relationship between former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.
Datti made the remarks in a video shared by VANGUARD on its official X account on June 3, 2026.
In the video, the former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate reflected on his time as Peter Obi’s running mate during the 2023 presidential election. He noted that he always ensured he walked beside or behind Obi as a sign of respect and suggested that political leaders should be mindful of such gestures.
According to Datti, he has observed instances where Kwankwaso walks ahead of Obi, something he said he would never do.
Despite the observation, Baba-Ahmed emphasized that he holds both politicians in high regard and has immense respect for them.
Speaking in the video, he said:
“Kwankwaso walks in front of Peter Obi. You don’t do that. We have pictures and videos, but I will never do that.”
