A political event organised for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was thrown into confusion on Wednesday after the stage hosting the governor and other dignitaries reportedly collapsed.
The incident occurred during the inauguration of Governor Adeleke’s re-election canvassers in Ijebu-Jesa, located in Ori-Ade Local Government Area of Osun State.
According to reports, Governor Adeleke, his sister Modupe Adeleke, Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye, and several government officials were on the platform when the structure suddenly gave way.
A video circulating online showed the stage crowded with political stakeholders, party supporters, and security personnel moments before the collapse.
Witnesses said security operatives quickly moved in to assist the governor and other dignitaries from the scene. Although some attendees reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries, the exact condition of those affected had not been officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
The unexpected incident disrupted the programme and forced organisers to bring the event to an abrupt end.
