The 10th House of Representatives has finally put an end to the prolonged and chaotic battle for the position of Minority Leader.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas today officially announced Hon. Fred Agbedi (PDP, Bayelsa) as the new Minority Leader of the House.

This comes after weeks of intense drama, heated arguments, and allegations of signature forgery that nearly turned the Green Chamber into a battleground.
Background of the Chaos
The position became vacant after the former Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, defected to the APC. This triggered a fierce contest among opposition lawmakers.
The situation escalated dramatically when Hon. Philip Agbese raised a matter of personal privilege, accusing Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere of forgery — claiming his name and signature were fraudulently included in a document endorsing Ugochinyere for the position.
The plenary session descended into chaos, with lawmakers trading shouts across the floor. Speaker Abbas had to repeatedly intervene to restore order.
Resolution
After several meetings of the minority caucus and behind-the-scenes negotiations, the House leadership has now settled on Hon. Fred Agbedi, a fourth-term lawmaker from Bayelsa State.

The development brings temporary calm to the opposition caucus, which has been deeply divided over the leadership position.
