Feeling constantly tired or weak? It might be more than just stress. A shortage of red blood cells, known as anemia, can sometimes be linked to underlying conditions, including cancers that affect the bone marrow.

Seeing blood in your urine can be alarming, and it should be. It could be caused by infections or kidney stones, but it may also point to more serious conditions like bladder or kidney cancer. Either way, it needs medical attention.

How to Lower Your Risk of Cancer

While not all cancers can be prevented, certain habits can lower your risk:

  • Avoid smoking — or quit if you already do
  • Protect your skin from the sun
  • Get enough quality sleep
  • Eat a balanced, nutritious diet
  • Stay physically active
  • Limit alcohol intake
