A man has shared the emotional story of how he was abandoned at an orphanage as a child and later reunited with his mother nearly three decades later.
According to the man, who narrated his experience on social media, he was only five years old when his mother took him to an orphanage and promised to return for him. However, she never came back, leaving him to spend his childhood wondering why he had been abandoned.
He recalled that for years, he waited and hoped to see his mother again. Every birthday and holiday season, he expected her to walk through the orphanage gates. As time passed and she failed to return, his hope gradually turned into disappointment and resentment.
After leaving the orphanage as a young adult, he struggled to build a life for himself. He worked several low-paying jobs before eventually establishing a stable career and starting his own family.
Despite moving on with his life, he admitted that one question continued to trouble him: why had his mother abandoned him?
The answer came unexpectedly 27 years later when he received a message from an unknown number.
According to him, the message read: “Please forgive me. I am your mother.”
Initially shocked and skeptical, he agreed to meet the woman. During their meeting, she allegedly revealed the circumstances that led to her decision years earlier.
She explained that after the death of his father, she was left without financial support, employment, or a place to live. Facing severe hardship and unable to provide food and shelter for her son, she made the difficult decision to place him in an orphanage, believing it was the only way to ensure his survival.
The woman further claimed that she later tried to find him after rebuilding her life, but the orphanage had closed and records had become difficult to trace.
While the revelation did not erase the pain of his childhood, the man said it helped him understand the situation from a different perspective.
He noted that although forgiving his mother was not easy, learning the truth allowed him to let go of years of anger and begin rebuilding their relationship.
The story has generated mixed reactions online. While some people sympathized with the mother’s situation and praised the reunion, others argued that abandoning a child is never justified regardless of the circumstances.
The emotional account has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many users discussing whether they would be able to forgive a parent who disappeared from their life for nearly three decades.
