As Ekiti State residents head to the polls today, June 20, 2026, the founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Elijah Ayodele, has predicted victory for the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, in the governorship election.

In a video message released on Friday, June 19, Ayodele declared that Oyebanji, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), would emerge victorious in the election despite the challenge posed by opposition parties.

According to the cleric:

“Oyebanji will win this election tomorrow.”

His prediction effectively ruled out the chances of the main opposition candidate, Oluwole Oluyede, and other contenders participating in the race.

Primate Ayodele’s prophecy on the Ekiti 2026 election can be viewed here via a Facebook post.

Election Underway Across Ekiti

The governorship election is currently taking place across the state, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stating that all necessary preparations had been completed before voting commenced.

Sensitive and non-sensitive election materials were reportedly distributed ahead of the exercise, while security agencies deployed personnel to ensure a peaceful process.

A total of 14 candidates are contesting the election, with political observers identifying Governor Oyebanji, PDP’s Oluyede, and candidates from smaller opposition parties as key contenders.

Analyst Also Backs Oyebanji

Political analyst Donald Okwuosa recently projected that Governor Oyebanji is likely to secure a second term in office.

According to Okwuosa, three major factors favor the incumbent:

The power of incumbency.

Strong political sentiment in his favor.

Ekiti’s recent history as an APC stronghold.

Reactions to Ayodele’s Prophecy

The prophecy has generated mixed reactions among political observers and social media users.

@AdebayoPolitics

Primate Ayodele has made several political predictions before. Whether people believe him or not, today’s election will determine the outcome.

@EkitiYouthVoice

Prophecies don’t decide elections. The voters will decide who governs Ekiti.

@TosinReports

Governor Oyebanji remains the favourite going into this election. The real question is the margin of victory.

@PDPSupportersNG

We respect every religious leader, but the ballot box will speak louder than predictions.

@APCProgressive

This confirms what many people already know. Oyebanji has done enough to earn another term.

What Is at Stake?

Today’s election is being closely watched because it is considered an early indicator of political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections. The outcome could influence party strategies, alliances, and voter expectations across the Southwest and beyond.

With voting already underway, attention now shifts from prophecies and projections to the official results that will be announced by INEC after the conclusion of the electoral process.
