According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, left behind a number of assets, and Wunmi, her husband, has accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of trying to take them away from her.

Earlier this week, she made the accusation while discussing the persistent family disputes following Mohbad’s death in an interview that aired on Channels Television.

In the interview, Wunmi spoke about her lengthy friendship with the late artist and the strong bond they had before he passed away.

She elaborated on how their friendship blossomed into a romantic relationship after many years of being together.

After years of being very close and building a life together, she claims that disagreements arose within the family with the birth of their son, Liam.

Her relationship with Mohbad’s father gradually worsened, and she went on to say that tensions within the family rose when Liam was born.

Disagreements over Mohbad’s estate and personal affairs, as well as other family-related concerns, became increasingly complex following the singer’s death, according to Wunmi.

Wunmi revealed that no one had claimed ownership of the royalties earned by Mohbad’s work prior to his passing, as the late singer had an outstanding legal dispute with his previous record label.

According to her, the case was already pending in court and would need a legal guardian to see it through after Mohbad died away.

Wunmi claims that the singer’s brother and their son, Liam, were nominated as representatives related to the case by Mohbad’s lawyer.

She said that she has been representing Liam in court proceedings and problems pertaining to the late singer’s earnings and claims while he is still a minor.

Wunmi went on to say that Joseph Aloba queried the legitimacy of her marriage to Mohbad and later asked for a cut of the earnings.

According to her, her father-in-law had acknowledged her and her husband’s union before the dispute ever started.

Wunmi accused him of trying to separate her and her kid from the family, and she also emphasised that nobody could stop her from continuing to bear the Aloba name.

Reflecting on her relationship with the late singer, Wunmi said she continues to miss him daily. She said, “That is someone I have known since I was about 12 years old. We were first friends then we became lovers,” she stated.
