Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Primate Elijah Ayodele, founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Oke-Afa, Lagos, has described the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a political platform created for a hidden agenda.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric claimed that the party was established for a specific mission and warned politicians who joined it that they might eventually regret their decision.
According to Ayodele, the NDC lacks the seriousness required to become a major political force and would not make any significant impact in future elections.
He said:
“NDC as a party can’t really go far; it’s a party of political errand boys. It’s not a serious political party, and people who have rushed themselves there will eventually regret it. The party is a political set-up programmed to capture politicians.”
The cleric further maintained that the party has no long-term political future.
“NDC won’t last long; it’s a party that has no political future. I pity those who have pitched their tents in the party; it’s a trap.”
Ayodele, however, stressed that opposition politicians must unite under a common platform if they hope to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
The NDC was founded in 2026 and has positioned itself as a party focused on disciplined governance, long-term national planning, and institutional accountability.
Among its prominent members are Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who both contested the 2023 presidential election. Obi is currently the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Ayodele also recalled his earlier prediction about the party, insisting that it would not record meaningful success at the polls.
He said:
“In the coming election, even if the person who owns it contests under the party, he will fail. The party will not make any tangible achievement in 2027.”
