Popular social media activist and influencer VeryDarkMan on Tuesday led a massive protest in Ibadan, Oyo State, demanding urgent action over the abduction of teachers and schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area.
The demonstration drew a large crowd of concerned residents who took to the streets to call for the immediate rescue of the victims and stronger measures to tackle insecurity in the state.
Protesters marched through major roads in the Oyo State capital before converging at the Government House, where they demanded swift intervention from both state and federal authorities.

Carrying placards with various messages, the demonstrators chanted solidarity songs and called on the government to make the safe return of the abducted children and teachers a top priority.
Addressing the crowd, VeryDarkMan expressed frustration over what he described as the slow pace of efforts to secure the victims’ release. He questioned the effectiveness of existing security measures and urged authorities to intensify rescue operations.
The activist also appealed to the federal and Oyo State governments to deploy all available resources to ensure the abducted schoolchildren and teachers are returned safely to their families.
The protest comes amid growing public concern over insecurity and a series of kidnappings that have affected communities across different parts of the country. Many residents at the demonstration insisted that the protection of students and educational institutions must receive greater attention from security agencies.
The abduction in Oriire Local Government Area has sparked widespread outrage, with civil society groups, community leaders, and concerned Nigerians continuing to demand immediate action and accountability from relevant authorities.
