Armed bandits have killed three personnel of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Kebbi State.

The attack occurred over the weekend along the Tsamiya–Illo Road in Bagudo Local Government Area while the officers were carrying out official duties.

The victims were identified as:

DCRMA Umar Aliyu

SRMA Ezra Manu Gona

RMA I Mansur Ibrahim Nasir

According to local sources, the bandits, estimated to be about 20 in number, ambushed the officers and pursued them as they attempted to escape.

A resident said the attackers chased the FRSC operatives on motorcycles before killing them.

“They tried to escape from the bandits who were on bikes, but they pursued them with their motorcycles and killed them before they could escape into the bush.”

The source added that attacks on security personnel have become increasingly frequent in the area.

“They are always coming to attack security operatives in this area. This is about the fifth time they have come to kill security officers at their duty post in this area.”

As of the time of reporting, the FRSC command in Kebbi State had not released an official statement regarding the incident.

Kebbi Government Holds Emergency Security Meeting

Following the recent wave of bandit attacks, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris convened an emergency security meeting at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among security agencies and addressing the growing security challenges affecting parts of the state.

Governor Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and warned against collaboration with criminal groups.

“My administration will not tolerate or spare anyone found to be an informant. Anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law, and justice will be served.”

Previous Security Incidents

The attack comes amid continued security concerns across several states.

Recently, five people were reportedly killed when gunmen opened fire during a social event in Plateau State. Security agencies were deployed to restore order and pursue the attackers.

In another incident, armed bandits attacked the Dangulbi community in Sokoto State, killing 17 people, including seven visitors who had travelled for the Sallah celebration. Residents reported that the attackers also looted shops, abducted villagers, and forced many people to flee into nearby forests.

Community members have continued to call on both the federal and state governments to intensify efforts to address insecurity and protect lives and property.
