The Abia State chapter of the APC has joined Nigerians in celebrating Democracy Day, describing the occasion as a tribute to the country’s democratic heroes and the resilience of its institutions.

In a statement issued on Friday, June 12, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, commended President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, promote accountability, and implement reforms aimed at addressing Nigeria’s long-standing structural challenges.

According to the APC, the reforms may require temporary sacrifices but are necessary to build a stronger economy, attract investment, create jobs, stabilize public finances, and secure a better future for Nigerians.

The party stated that Tinubu’s leadership has renewed hope for a Nigeria that works for all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation. It urged residents of Abia State and Nigerians generally to continue supporting the Federal Government’s reform agenda and remain committed to democratic values, peace, national unity, and development.

The Abia APC also reaffirmed its commitment to promoting good governance, transparency, accountability, and the welfare of citizens while ensuring that the benefits of democracy reach communities across the state and the country.

Tinubu Speaks on Insecurity

In his Democracy Day address, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to ending terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and other violent crimes.

He said the government is combining military operations with non-violent approaches, including the reintegration of repentant fighters, expanded recruitment into the police and armed forces, and increased defense funding.

According to the president, coordinated security operations have weakened terrorist networks and reduced violence in several parts of the country. He added that the 2026 budget contains the largest defense allocation in Nigeria’s history to further strengthen security efforts.
