The victim spoke during an interview on Channels Television, on Sunday, 28 June, 2026, while narrating the events that unfolded before security operatives successfully rescued them from a forest hideout. Her account provides fresh insight into the confusion and fear experienced by the victims during the ordeal.

Recounting the incident, Nsofor said: “I thought he was a vigilante, he wanted to help us. He helped us open the door and brought us out of the Sienna and said ‘how many people did they shoot’. My sister said she is bleeding and my mom also.”

According to her, the man appeared friendly at first, leading the family to believe he had arrived to rescue them after the attack. However, it soon became clear that he was part of the gang responsible for the kidnapping. The family had already suffered injuries during the assault, with both her mother and sister sustaining gunshot wounds.

The rescue followed a coordinated forest operation by the Lagos and Ogun police commands, who tracked the kidnappers to their hideout and engaged them in a gun battle. The operation led to the successful rescue of the victims and the recovery of the injured family members, who were subsequently taken for medical treatment.
