Amanda Onyiribe, a small-scale entrepreneur and single mother affected by a recent demolition in Lagos, has described the impact of the incident on her family responsibilities and livelihood.
In an interview with PUNCH on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Amanda explained that she is the primary caregiver for her daughter, who depends on her for daily support. She also provides care for her widowed mother, who is living with arthritis.
She said that she regularly sends financial support for her mother’s medication and basic needs, despite her current challenges. Amanda added that her younger sister also resides with her in Lagos, and together they contribute to supporting their mother.
According to her,
“I am a single mother. I have a daughter who depends on me. I also take care of my mother, who is a widow and suffers from arthritis. I usually send money for her medication and basic needs. My younger sister is also in Lagos with me, and we all try to support our mother.”
