March and March movement leader Jacinta Ngobese has sparked intense public debate after making emotional claims about what she alleges was discovered during a recent operation at a building reportedly linked to criminal activity.
Ngobese, known for her outspoken stance on social issues, immigration, and crime, took to social media to express frustration over public focus on legal technicalities surrounding a search warrant, arguing that more attention should be directed toward alleged humanitarian concerns uncovered at the property.
“Anyways while you debate about a search warrant… what we found in that building besides drugs was a 13-year-old girl breastfeeding a child of an old Nigerian man. A very painful sight,” Ngobese wrote.
Her remarks have ignited widespread reactions online, with supporters praising her for drawing attention to what they believe are urgent child protection concerns, while critics have urged caution against circulating unverified claims that could inflame tensions or stigmatise communities.
The comments emerged amid ongoing public scrutiny over enforcement operations targeting buildings allegedly associated with drug-related activities and undocumented migrants in parts of South Africa. Questions surrounding the legality of searches and law enforcement procedures have become a major point of contention, with civil society groups warning that constitutional rights must be protected even during crime prevention efforts.
However, Ngobese insists that public discourse should not overlook the human realities allegedly encountered during such operations. Her statement has shifted some of the conversation toward concerns over child exploitation, underage parenting, and the vulnerability of minors in unsafe living environments.
Child rights advocates have consistently warned that vulnerable children living in impoverished or overcrowded conditions face heightened risks of neglect, exploitation, and abuse. Experts say cases involving minors require urgent intervention by social services and law enforcement to establish facts and ensure protection measures are implemented where necessary.
At the time of publication, no official confirmation had been issued by authorities regarding the specific allegations made by Ngobese, including the reported presence of a minor in the circumstances she described. It also remains unclear whether any arrests, investigations, or child welfare interventions were initiated following the alleged discovery.
The incident has nevertheless reignited broader discussions about law enforcement operations, immigration tensions, and child safeguarding responsibilities. As debate intensifies, calls are growing for authorities to provide clarity on the claims and ensure that any allegations involving minors are urgently and sensitively investigated.
