Musalia Mudavadi has often shared a heartfelt account of how he met his wife, Tessie Shangatti Mudavadi, describing it as a moment that left a lasting impression on him.
Their love story began during a fundraising event in Lugari, where Mudavadi had attended a public function to help raise money for a local school. Amid the crowd, he noticed a strikingly beautiful young woman Tessie who had accompanied a member of the school’s board.
The two would later cross paths again at a lunch hosted at the board member’s home, where their connection began to grow. As Mudavadi would later put it, the rest is history.
The couple formalized their relationship on November 17, 1991, when Tessie married Mudavadi, who was then serving as Minister for Supplies and Marketing at the age of 31. Over the years, their union has remained strong, built on shared values, mutual respect, and understanding.
Mudavadi has frequently praised his wife for being a steady pillar in their family, especially during periods when his political career demanded his time away from home. He credits Tessie for stepping in and holding the family together, describing her as a devoted mother and supportive partner.
