Maryam Shehu has recounted the devastating loss of her three sons, who she says were killed in separate violent incidents in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Speaking in a video shared by News Central TV, Mrs Shehu described the repeated tragedies as deeply painful and life-altering for her family.
She explained that the first incident occurred when one of her sons went into the bush to herd cattle. According to her, she was at home when his remains were brought back, and she was devastated to discover that his body had been returned without his head.
She further stated that about four years after the first killing, another of her sons was also attacked and killed while tending cattle near a stream. She said his body was found badly mutilated, adding to the trauma the family had already experienced.
Mrs Shehu also revealed that her third son was later killed in a similar manner in the same general area where the first son lost his life, suggesting a repeated pattern of violence affecting her family.
In her emotional account, she said: “One of my sons went to the bush to graze his cattle but he was attacked and killed. I was at home when his body without head was brought to me.”
Her testimony highlights the continued insecurity and violent attacks affecting rural communities in parts of Plateau State, where herders and farming communities have often reported clashes and assaults.
The video has drawn reactions from viewers expressing sympathy and renewed concern over safety challenges in affected areas, as calls continue for stronger protection of vulnerable communities in the region.
