Paying Tithe Is Not Compulsory For Christians? See The Bible Verses Causing Serious Debate

For decades, many churches have taught that every Christian must pay tithe or risk losing God’s blessings. However, some pastors and Bible scholars now argue that tithing under the New Testament may not be compulsory as many people believe.

One of the most quoted verses about tithe is Malachi 3:10:
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse…”

But critics argue that this command was specifically given to the Israelites under the Old Covenant law.

They also point to 2 Corinthians 9:7, where the Bible says:
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion.”

According to some Christian teachers, the New Testament focuses more on cheerful and voluntary giving rather than fixed percentages.

Others, however, strongly defend tithing, saying it remains an important principle of honoring God with one’s income.

The topic has continued to divide opinions online, with many believers asking whether Christians should follow Old Testament tithe laws or practice freewill giving instead.

One thing is certain — the debate around the tithe is far from over.
