Tears as APC loses prominent former senator to death

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been thrown into mourning following the death of former Senator Anthony Ademuyiwa Adeniyi, who represented Ekiti South Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015.

The respected lawyer, politician and influential APC chieftain reportedly died on Wednesday, June 24, at the age of 75.

Reacting to the sad development, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji described Adeniyi’s passing as a monumental loss to Ekiti State, the legal profession, the APC and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the governor praised the late senator for his immense contributions to the progressive movement in Ekiti.

Oyebanji recalled that Senator Adeniyi played a pivotal role in the legal battle that restored the mandate of the progressives, leading to the swearing-in of former Governor Kayode Fayemi in 2010.

The governor also commended the late lawmaker’s outstanding service in the Senate, where he championed constitutional reforms, judicial independence, electoral reforms, improved telecommunications services, and policies aimed at attracting investments into Nigeria’s economy.

Senator Adeniyi is remembered as a respected legal practitioner, accomplished politician and dedicated public servant whose contributions left a lasting impact on Ekiti State and the country’s democratic development.
