In the early 20th century, the Sells-Floto Circus featured an unusual performer named Pascual Pinon, a Mexican man who became famous around the world as “the two-headed Mexican man.” Although he was born in Mexico, Pinon was raised in the United States and gained public attention because of his extraordinary appearance.

According to reports, Pinon was born with a large benign growth on the top of his head. Doctors quickly examined him and performed surgery to remove the unusual mass. The condition created the appearance of a second head, making him a unique figure in circus history.

Having two heads is extremely rare, but Pinon’s case was different from typical cases of conjoined twins. In a condition called craniopagus parasiticus, an extra head is usually attached in an abnormal position, often upside down on the other head. Pinon’s second head, however, appeared upright and looked similar in position to his original head.

For years, Pinon lived with this unusual feature and performed for audiences. However, his life changed when he developed a serious headache connected to the growth on his head. After medical examinations, doctors determined that removing the second head was necessary to protect his health and save his life.

During the operation, Pinon remained conscious and aware of what was happening. Although doctors used novocaine to numb the area, he was able to experience the procedure. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and removing the growth did not result in brain damage or other major complications.

The photographs taken before the operation show Pascual Pinon during the period when he was known as the man with two heads. His story remains one of the most unusual medical and entertainment stories from the early 1900s, continuing to attract curiosity because of the mystery surrounding his rare condition and his remarkable life.
