‘THEY WANT ME DEAD’: Tinubu Blows Lid on Oil Subsidy, Exchange Rate Cabals
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that powerful cabals opposed to the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of exchange rates are actively wishing him dead.
The President made the revelation yesterday through former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, at the public presentation of the book *The NADECO Story* authored by Chief Ayo Opadokun. The event, organised by the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), also featured the presentation of awards to key figures and institutions that fought for the return of democracy in Nigeria.
Representing President Tinubu, Osoba stated that the leader is fully aware of deliberate attempts to destabilise the country by interests he offended through his economic reforms.
“As for security, he says I should let you know that he is aware that there is a deliberate attempt to disrupt the peace of this country by people whom he knew he had offended by canceling multiple exchange rates and by canceling oil subsidies.
Those cabals who are doing round-tripping will wish him dead any time, but he is determined that if that is the only thing he would do, he would make sure he rearranges the economy.”
Osoba added that President Tinubu expressed deep gratitude to NADECO members, saying he would not be in power today without their historic struggle against military dictatorship.
“He said he won’t be in power today without NADECO… He is ever grateful for what all of you have done,” Osoba quoted the President as saying.
