Police in Limpopo are continuing investigations into the disappearance of two-year-old Omphile Sethole after the toddler vanished from her home in Ga Mabuela village near Tinmyne earlier this month.
According to reports, the child was last seen during the early hours of Saturday, 2 May 2026, before being reported missing shortly afterward. The incident has sparked concern within the local community as search efforts intensify.
Police said the child’s 52-year-old grandmother discovered she was missing at around 6:00am after noticing that a bedroom window had been left open. The discovery immediately raised alarm among family members, prompting them to alert authorities and begin searching for the toddler.
Authorities have since launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance. A woman is currently being questioned by police as part of ongoing enquiries, although officials have not disclosed her exact connection to the case or confirmed whether any charges have been filed.
Search operations are continuing in and around the Ga Mabuela area, with police officers, community members, and volunteers working together in an effort to locate the missing child. Law enforcement agencies have also appealed to the public for any information that may assist investigators.
Police say the open bedroom window and the sequence of events leading up to the child’s disappearance remain central to the investigation. Detectives are expected to conduct further interviews and forensic examinations as they work to determine what happened during the early hours of the morning.
Cases involving missing children often trigger urgent multi-agency responses, and authorities have indicated that every possible lead is being pursued. The disappearance has generated growing concern across the province, with many residents expressing hope that the toddler will be found safely.
Police have urged anyone with relevant information regarding Omphile Sethole’s whereabouts to come forward immediately as investigations and search operations continue.
