A tense altercation between a landlady and her tenant has sparked reactions online after a video of the incident surfaced from Tema.
According to reports, the disagreement began when the landlady allegedly attempted to force the tenant out of the property just two months after receiving a rent payment of GH¢4,000. The situation quickly escalated into a heated exchange, attracting the attention of neighbours and passersby in the area.
The tenant reportedly challenged the move, accusing the landlady of violating their agreement by demanding that he vacate the premises despite having paid for a longer stay. Witnesses say both parties engaged in a loud argument, with the tenant insisting on his right to remain in the apartment for the duration agreed upon.
Although the exact details behind the eviction attempt are still unclear, conflicts between landlords and tenants over rent terms are relatively common in Ghana. Such disputes are often linked to unclear agreements or failure to follow proper legal procedures.
Housing experts note that landlords are typically required to respect the terms of tenancy agreements and provide sufficient notice before asking a tenant to leave, except in cases where the tenant has breached the contract.
At the time of reporting, it remains uncertain whether the issue has been formally reported to authorities or peacefully resolved. Fortunately, no injuries were recorded during the confrontation.
The incident has reignited public discussion on social media, with many calling for stricter enforcement of tenancy laws and better protection for both tenants and property owners to prevent similar situations in the future.
