According to a report by The Punch on Saturday, May 9, 2026, a 15-year-old boy, Emmanuel Adeyemi, has expressed deep frustration over his inability to attend school due to a severe physical condition diagnosed as cerebral palsy. The teenager, who was born prematurely and later suffered complications from jaundice, has lived with the condition since infancy, leaving him fully dependent on his family for everyday survival.

Emmanuel explained that while he remains mentally active and aware of his surroundings, his physical limitations have kept him away from formal education and normal childhood experiences. He described his situation as emotionally painful, especially when he sees other children his age progressing in school and building their future.

“What hurts me even more is watching children my age go to school, chase their dreams and enjoy life while I remain stuck in this condition, unable to do the same,” he said, expressing how deeply affected he feels by his circumstances.

He further noted that his condition has confined him to a life of constant care, with mobility challenges that require assistance for even the most basic activities. Emmanuel added that his inability to access proper mobility support, including a functional wheelchair, has worsened his daily struggles.

His mother also confirmed that the family has been unable to sustain consistent medical treatment due to financial constraints, forcing them to rely on makeshift solutions to care for him at home. Despite these challenges, she said Emmanuel remains mentally alert and communicative, showing interest in learning and social interaction even from his restricted environment.

The family is now appealing for assistance from government agencies, NGOs and well-meaning individuals to help provide medical care, mobility support and access to education that could improve Emmanuel’s quality of life.
