When I Told the Kidnappers I’ve Children,The Leader Said, “If You Die God Will Keep the Children-Otu

Mercy Otu, one of the five passengers who were recovered after being abducted along the Benin–Ore motorway in Ogun State, has described the terrifying experience she had while being held captive by the kidnappers.

Throughout their stay in captivity, the victims were not provided with any food or drink, according to Otu, who said this in a video that was distributed by News Central TV. After revealing to the kidnappers that she was a widow who had battled for a period of twelve years to raise her children, she recounted begging with them to release her.

She claims that the head of the group reacted by saying that even if she passed away, God would take care of her daughter and her children. She said that such comments rendered her unable to articulate her thoughts, and she ceased pleading for her life.

A total of four more victims, including Otu, were rescued by the police after being held captive for around twenty-four hours. After surviving the trauma and being reunited with her children, she expressed her appreciation to God for allowing her to survive.

In addition, Otu made a request to the government to heighten the level of protection along the Benin–Ore route. She pleaded with the authorities to remove the dense shrubs that were along the road, stating that they offered thieves a place to hide and made it simpler for kidnappers to ambush motorists without being discovered.

On Wednesday, the assailants assaulted three cars that were transporting people from the states of Anambra and Edo. The victims were then carried into the woods after the attack. Following a harrowing ordeal, the relatives of the five victims were able to find some solace via the successful rescue of their loved ones.

In his words, “When I told them I’m a widow, I suffered for 12 years to train my children. Will I die like this? The leader said, ‘Madam, even if you die, God will keep the children.'”
