According to a report by Punch on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has threatened to publicly disclose the identities of politicians he claims are behind the recent abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He made the allegation while addressing concerns over insecurity and the handling of the kidnapping incident in the state, stating that certain political actors may be linked to the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The activist made the remarks during a meeting with the newly inaugurated executive members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, who visited him at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan on Wednesday.
The meeting reportedly focused on issues affecting students, insecurity in educational environments, and broader concerns about safety in parts of Oyo State and other regions experiencing similar incidents.
During the interaction, Igboho addressed the recent abduction of students in Oriire, expressing dissatisfaction with how the situation has been handled.
He claimed that he had offered to take direct action against the suspected armed groups responsible for the kidnapping but said his offer was rejected by the state government.
He maintained that he was prepared to mobilize efforts to confront the situation but was prevented from doing so.
He also stated that he had not requested any financial support from the administration of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, in relation to efforts aimed at securing the release of the abducted students.
According to him, his involvement was purely voluntary and driven by concern over the safety of the victims, particularly the 47 abductees reported in the incident.
He emphasized that his position had remained consistent regarding his willingness to assist without demanding compensation.
He said, “The same thing they did to Jonathan is what they are doing to Tinubu. They want to make the country ungovernable for him. They even have fake news propaganda to scare the masses and divert supporters away from the President. Suppose the recent abduction is not a game. In Oyo, they made away with children. I volunteered to go, but the state government said ‘No.’”
