According to a report by the Punch on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has issued a strong warning that he may publicly expose politicians allegedly linked to the kidnapping of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He made this statement while receiving newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students, led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan on Wednesday.
In a video that has since gone viral, reportedly recorded by Wisdom TV, Igboho maintained that he had voluntarily offered to confront and flush out the kidnappers but was resisted by the state authorities. According to him, his intention was to directly intervene and dislodge the criminals responsible for the abduction.
He further dismissed any claims that he had sought financial compensation from the administration of Seyi Makinde in connection with efforts to secure the release of the 47 abducted individuals.
Expressing confidence in his capability to tackle the situation, Igboho declared, “If I am permitted to burst into the hideouts, they will flee. They are neither gnomes nor mannequins; they are humans, so that they could be dislodged.”
He emphasized that the perpetrators are not invincible and could be driven out if given the opportunity.
Going further, he made a more serious allegation about political involvement in the crisis. “I know the politicians behind them, and if they do not stop perpetrating their evil acts, I will mention them all. I know them. The politicians behind them are the ones giving them ammunition and money,” he said.
His remarks have intensified public attention on the security situation in the area, as well as the alleged role of political actors in fueling criminal activities.
