Just 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja revoked his bail and issued a bench warrant for his arrest, Omoyele Sowore has shown no sign of backing down. Instead of going into hiding or staying silent, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate has remained highly active, posting political content and pushing his 2027 agenda.
The Court Order
On Monday, June 16, 2026, Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court revoked Sowore’s bail after he failed to appear in court for his ongoing cybercrime trial. The case stems from a critical social media post he made about President Bola Tinubu in August 2025. The judge issued a bench warrant for his immediate arrest.
Many expected Sowore to go underground or reduce his public activities following the order. However, that has not been the case.
What Sowore Has Been Up To
On Wednesday, June 17 — barely 24 hours after the court order — Sowore posted a strongly worded political message on his X account (@sowore), directly comparing his vision for Nigeria with what he described as the failures of the current system.
In the post, he wrote:
“The ideas that will power Nigeria are confronting the experience that has kept our country in perpetual darkness. One offers vision, innovation, courage, and solutions. The other offers recycled excuses, stagnation, and failure. The choice belongs to Nigerians.”
He ended the post with the hashtag #Sowore2027, clearly signalling that he has no intention of slowing down his presidential ambition despite the legal threat hanging over him.

The post, which came with a video, quickly gained traction, with supporters hailing his courage while critics accused him of being desperate for power.
A Pattern of Defiance
This is not the first time Sowore has continued political activities despite legal challenges. Over the years, he has been arrested multiple times but has consistently used such situations to amplify his message and portray himself as a victim of political persecution.
His latest move — remaining loud and visible just a day after a court ordered his arrest — fits into this pattern. Rather than retreat, he appears to be using the moment to reinforce his image as a fearless opposition figure who will not be silenced.
What Next?
As of the time of filing this report, there are no confirmed reports that Sowore has been arrested despite the bench warrant. He continues to engage publicly on social media, pushing his 2027 presidential campaign.
Whether this defiance will strengthen his support base or lead to further legal consequences remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that Sowore has chosen to remain in the spotlight rather than go quiet.
