Published

Allegedly, in the wee hours of Sunday morning, one police officer shot and killed another officer. The alleged altercation between the suspect and her partner took place at approximately 03:30 at Glenridge Ext 16, Soweto.

Initial reports indicate that following the altercation, the suspect allegedly requested that a fellow officer drive a female friend home. However, the suspect allegedly began firing shots at the car as Rikhotso and his female companion were driving away from the scene near a curve on Acropolis Street. Seven rounds were fired, killing Officer Rikhotso, according to the police.

There were bullet holes in both the front and back windows of the car when she died at the site. Both the suspect and a Glock 19 that authorities say was used in the shooting were apprehended. The Protea SAPS has initiated an investigation into the deadly gunshot, and a murder case has also been opened by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID).

According to social media accounts, the suspect and the victim were dating each other. This, however, is not among the verified facts announced by the government and has not been formally validated by the police or IPID. This week, she is anticipated to make her court appearance. The inquiry has not concluded yet.
