Founder of the Omega Power Ministry, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has shared the story of a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly abandoned at a motherless babies’ home shortly after birth but later found refuge and education through the church’s free school programme.

In a post shared on social media, the cleric narrated that the girl’s mother, whom he described as a sex worker, abandoned her in an orphanage after delivery.

According to him, the mother later informed her own mother about the existence of the child shortly before her death, prompting the grandmother to trace and retrieve the girl from the orphanage home.

Apostle Chinyere said the grandmother later struggled to cater for the child and reportedly handed her over to a relative in Port Harcourt who promised to sponsor her education.

However, he alleged that the relative maltreated the girl and failed to enroll her in school, forcing her to return to her village.

The pastor explained that while living with the relative, the girl had frequently watched him on television and eventually told her grandmother that she wanted to travel to Port Harcourt to stay with him.

“Since that year she has been staying in my house and now she is grown to 17 years old and she is in SS2 in one of the OPM free schools,” he wrote.

The cleric’s post has since attracted reactions online, with many social media users commending the church’s support for vulnerable children and less privileged families.

OPM is known for its charity initiatives, including free schools, scholarships, welfare support, and assistance for vulnerable persons across different parts of the country.
