The Commissioner for Project Monitoring in Ebonyi State, Mr. Felix Igboke, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Igboke announced that he was returning to the PDP along with more than 10,000 supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during a PDP gathering in Isu, Onicha Local Government Area on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Igboke described his move as a homecoming, noting that he began his political career under the PDP.

“I am happy to return to the political platform that built me. I served as a councillor, development centre coordinator, and chairman of Onicha Local Government Area under the same party before I joined the APC,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to PDP leaders in Ebonyi State, particularly the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii.

“I am grateful to the PDP family in Ebonyi State, especially the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma-Odii, the incoming governor,” he added.

The PDP state chairman, Chukwuma Igwe, described Igboke’s return as a significant boost to the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to Igwe, the defection of Igboke and thousands of supporters reflects growing confidence in the PDP and its leadership among the people of Ebonyi State.

The event was attended by party leaders, executives, community leaders, supporters, and stakeholders from different parts of the state.

APC Faces Growing Internal Challenges

The APC has recently witnessed a series of defections and complaints from some members following the outcome of its primary elections for governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly positions.

Several influential politicians and former lawmakers have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s internal processes, leading to a number of defections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
