Breaking: Sunday Igboho and his team have reportedly deployed a drone to survey the area around Old Oyo National Park
Sunday Igboho and His Team Use Drones to Search for Kidnapped Schoolchildren and Teachers in Old Oyo National ParkSunday Igboho, the well-known Yoruba activist also called Sunday Adeyemo, and his Iru Ekun security team have been spotted in the Old Oyo National Park. They are using drones to search for schoolchildren and teachers kidnapped weeks ago.
The team is flying drones over the large forest area to find hidden camps and check difficult parts of the park. This is part of a rescue mission for the victims taken in May 2026 from schools in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. Reports say gunmen attacked Community High School and other schools in Ahoro-Esinele and nearby areas. They killed one teacher and took many others, including a 2-year-old child. Around 39 to 46 people were kidnapped in total.
Igboho has spoken strongly against the kidnappers. He said his team is ready to enter the forests and push out the bandits. He also warned that he knows some politicians behind these crimes and will name them if the attacks do not stop.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has ordered a curfew in 10 local government areas near the park. It runs from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. for 48 hours to help security operations. The police and military are also working on the rescue with blockades and other steps.
People in the area are worried and angry. Teachers in the state are on strike because of the safety fears. Many are praying for the safe return of the children and their teachers. This action by Igboho shows his strong stand against insecurity in the South-West. His team is using modern tools like drones to cover the big and thick forest where the victims may be held. No confirmation yet on new rescues from this drone search, but the operation is ongoing.
We will bring more updates as the story develops. Stay safe, and let’s hope the victims come home soon.
