Fayose, speaking in a televised interview, claimed he was instrumental in Makinde’s emergence as governor, asserting that he had been “in a very vantage position to block Governor Makinde getting the ticket” but instead chose to throw his weight behind him, actively working to secure his political fortunes.

According to the official YouTube channel of Inside Nigeria on Monday, June 28, 2026, Fayose alleged that Makinde repaid his loyalty with calculated political exclusion, stripping him of key structures within the PDP beginning in 2022.

He claimed that Ekiti was allocated multiple national party positions, including national vice chairman, deputy national secretary, and national publicity secretary, on the understanding that he remained a major stakeholder.

“Let’s call a spade a spade, Makinde has not been fair to me. He has not been fair to me”, Fayose repeats in emotional televised declaration.

“He took everything,” Fayose said pointedly, insisting that these positions were surrendered entirely to Makinde’s preferred structure.

Beyond the party structures, Fayose accused Makinde of directly undermining his standing in Ekiti itself, alleging the governor personally backed a candidate against his preferred choice using political machinery he had personally cultivated.

That candidate, he noted, was ultimately crushed at the polls, recording approximately ten percent of total votes cast.

“He personally took the candidate that was defeated in Ekiti using the boys that I brought up,” Fayose said, adding that Makinde similarly installed loyalists across other Southwest states.

Fayose also raised questions about Makinde’s relationship with the Olubadan of Ibadan, suggesting that denials from the palace contradicted other accounts emerging in the public domain.

He pointed to his earlier allegation that Makinde had received fifty billion naira from the presidency, a claim initially denied but later partially acknowledged at thirty billion naira, as evidence of his credibility.

“When you follow my trend, you will see that whatever I say comes to pass,” he asserted, presenting himself as a well-sourced commentator rather than a reckless political antagonist.

Fayose maintained that his grievances extended beyond personal politics into a broader pattern of governance concerns affecting the Southwest.

He was emphatic that his roots and personal investments in Ibadan gave him legitimate standing to comment on Oyo State affairs, stating, “My family is in Ibadan.

I grew up in Ibadan. I was born in Ibadan. My business is in Ibadan.” Despite the acrimony, he insisted his outspokenness was not driven by bitterness but by a commitment to political honesty, declaring he was not the type to stay silent when he believed wrongdoing was occurring.
