The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced the endorsement of former Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, as the Kano NDC gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming elections.
According to a media post shared on Friday, May 29, 2026, Kwankwaso also disclosed that Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna will contest for the Kano Central Senatorial seat.
Kwankwaso stated that the decision was reached in the spirit of equity, fairness, loyalty, and competence, which he described as core principles guiding the progress and unity of the Kwankwasiyya movement and the party.
He noted that the selections reflect the confidence reposed in the candidates’ leadership capacity, political experience, and commitment to the development of Kano State.
The former Kano State governor further prayed for a peaceful and successful affirmation exercise, expressing optimism that the party would record victory in the forthcoming elections.
He also called on supporters and party members to remain united and committed throughout the electoral process, while praying for Allah’s guidance and success ahead of the polls.
