Onor: Wike As An Individual Has The Sole Right To Support Whoever He Wishes For President- Andrew

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election is a personal decision and does not represent the position of the PDP.

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Enantomhen Andrew explained that Wike has the freedom, as an individual, to support any presidential candidate of his choice without forcing the PDP to back the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Andrew made the clarification while reacting to concerns that the PDP’s presidential candidate, Senator Sandy Onor, could be seen as a placeholder because of Wike’s relationship with Tinubu.

According to him, Wike has never directed members of the PDP to support the APC or abandon their party. He added that Wike’s relationship is with Tinubu as a person and not with the APC as a political platform.

Andrew further argued that political parties persist even after leaders leave office, stressing that Tinubu, like every other politician, will one day leave power. In contrast, the APC, as a party, will continue to exist.

He maintained that a presidential candidate does not become bigger than the political platform that produced him, insisting that parties outlive individuals in politics.

In his words, “Wike as an individual has sole the right to support whoever he wishes (for president).”
