A viral video from the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in Abia State has sparked massive outrage online after showing what many have described as a blatant mockery of democracy. In the ward linked to Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, election officials were caught on camera wildly inflating delegate numbers in broad daylight.

The clip shows counters dramatically calling out figures that jump from single digits to thousands — “7, 8, 9, 10… 90, 92… 1011” — while only a small crowd of between 20 to 60 people is visibly present. The absurd counting continued as numbers magically skyrocketed to over 7,000 and even 13,000, turning the exercise into a national embarrassment.

Netizens have dragged the APC and Kalu mercilessly, with many calling the video a preview of what to expect in 2027. Comments range from “They are not even ashamed” and “This is how they plan to rig the main election” to “APC is a curse.” The embarrassing footage has further damaged the party’s image as it tries to project internal democracy.

This latest scandal adds to growing criticism of the APC’s primaries across the country.
