Former APC chieftain and leader of the All Democratic Alliance, Umar Ardor, has revealed what he believes caused the breakdown in the relationship between former President Goodluck Jonathan and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Ardor stated that the removal of former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami, created a serious political rift between Jonathan and Tinubu. According to him, the incident weakened the bond both leaders once shared and changed the direction of their political relationship.

Ardor further disclosed that after the development, he met with former President Muhammadu Buhari and advised him to approach Tinubu with an offer to become his vice-presidential candidate. He explained that the move was aimed at forming a stronger political alliance capable of challenging the ruling party at the time.

In his words:

“The removal of Salami broke the relationship between President Jonathan and Bola Tinubu, and then I said go and approach Tinubu and then give him the vice presidency and then form what I then called ACPC, Action Congress for Progressive Change.”
