The African Democratic Congress (ADC)โs push towards the 2027 presidential election gathered pace on Thursday night as businessman and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen became the first aspirant to pick up the partyโs presidential nomination form, promising to anchor his proposed presidency on security and economic recovery.
Hayatu-Deen arrived at the ADC national headquarters in Abuja to a large crowd of supporters, party members, youth groups and well-wishers who turned out for the formal collection of the nomination form amid chants and solidarity songs.

His entry into the race comes as other prominent figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, continue to be mentioned among potential ADC presidential aspirants.
However, neither has officially picked up the partyโs nomination form.
Hayatu-Deen, who was presented with the form by the ADC National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, said the 2027 election should focus on rebuilding the countryโs economic and security foundations.

โNigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford.
โThis election cannot be about politics as usual. It must be about how to secure our communities, rebuild confidence in the economy, create jobs at scale, and make life more affordable for millions of Nigerians,โ he said.
